California Scholarship Federation
- The California Scholarship Federation, commonly known as CSF, is a state-wide organization to recognize and honor academic accomplishments of outstanding high school students in tangible ways. The organization was conceived in 1916 by Mr. Charles Seymore, and is respected by colleges and universities throughout the nation. To be a lifetime CSF member is a fancy feather in your future and in your cap.
- Lifetime members are recognized by an embossed seal placed on the diploma of each qualifying graduate, as well as the wearing of the traditional gold chords around the neck at graduation. Tuition scholarships are set aside specifically for CSF Life Members by participating colleges and universities in California and throughout the nation. In addition, there are Seymour Memorial awards, established to honor both Mr. Seymour and his wife, who together supplied the inspiration and leadership which fostered the California Scholarship Federation.
- The recipients of the Seymore Memorial Awards are decided each spring by regional subcommittees of five advisers who choose outstanding Life Members from among candidates nominated by their advisers within each of the five regions. The selection is made on the basis of character, leadership, and service. Each regional finalist receives $1,500 and the five regional winners receive an additional $1000. The award is now regarded as one of the highest scholastic honors given to secondary school graduates in and for the state of California.
